House Prices Fall For First Time In 9 Months  

According to the Natiowide, there was a 1% fall in house prices in February 2010. This is first fall in prices in 9 months

Contradictory 2010 House Price Forecasts  

Whilst Hometrack is predicting a 1% fall in house prices in 2010, the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR) is predicting a 2-4% rise. Read in to these contrasting forecasts what you will.

House Prices Move Back To 2008 Levels  

According to the Nationwide, house prices have now risen back to the level they were at a year ago. However, this rise is simply down to the fact that the number of houses on the market has fallen to record lows, a situation created by a combination of the recession and of the Governments absolutely disastrous decision to introduce the completely ludicrous Home Information Packs (HIPs). Furthermore, Martin Gahbauer, the Nationwide's chief economist. warned  that "given that the housing market still faces considerable headwinds in the form of high unemployment, restrictive credit conditions and an impending withdrawal of the stamp duty holiday, it would be surprising to see house prices continuing to increase at the…..rate seen in recent months."
